Specialist Training

  • Medical School: Nova Southeastern University
  • Residency : Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center
  • Fellowship: University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics

After growing up in Alaska, Dr. Scholtz attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and completed his internal medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He performed a year of hospital medicine at the Alaska Native Medical Center before pursuing infectious disease training at the University of Wisconsin.

He always longed to return to the Northwest and enjoys the wonderful outdoor activities that Oregon life offers. When not in the hospital or clinic, he can be found with his wife, chasing their black lab though the woods or surfing on the Oregon Coast.

“Seeing patients with complex medical problems and working hard as a medical team to solve challenging cases is the most rewarding part of my specialty. Being able to help cure diseases that previously were untreatable in the pre-antibiotic era is a great privilege. I'm extremely fortunate to work in such a wonderful environment with tremendous colleagues.”
